

Ćevapi / Ćevapi in Sub
Ćevapi are juicy grilled sausages made from a mix of beef and lamb, flavored with garlic and paprika. They are a street-food favorite in the Balkans. Traditionally served with soft bread, onions, and ajvar.
Ingredients (4–6 servings):
- 500 g phyllo dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 300 g minced beef/lamb (or cheese + spinach filling)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 tbsp oil or melted butter
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 100 ml yogurt (for serving)
Method:
- Prepare Filling – Fry onion in 1 tbsp oil until golden. Add minced meat, cook until brown, season with salt, pepper, paprika. Cool filling.
- Layer Phyllo – Take 2 phyllo sheets, brush with oil/butter. Spread filling. Roll like a cigar.
- Shape – Place rolls in a spiral shape inside a round tray, filling the whole pan.
- Top Coat – Brush with more oil/butter.
- Bake – Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35–40 min until crispy golden.
- Serve – With cold yogurt or ayran (salty yogurt drink).
🔑 Pro Tip: If using cheese + spinach, skip frying — just mix cheese, spinach, egg, and use as filling.
