Burek is a flaky pastry pie filled with meat, cheese, or spinach. Popular across the Balkans, it’s baked golden brown and enjoyed as breakfast, lunch, or a late-night snack. Always served with yogurt.

Ingredients (4–6 servings):

  • 500 g phyllo dough
  • 300 g minced beef/lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper

Method:

  1. Cook onion + meat with spices, let cool.
  2. Layer phyllo sheets, brush with oil, add filling, and roll.
  3. Shape into a spiral in baking tray.
  4. Bake at 180Β°C for 35–40 min until golden.
  5. Serve with yogurt.
